Winter time can be a depressing time for many people due to the fact that they stay indoors for many days. I find it a great time to put on the boots and gloves and go exploring for those scenes that are unique for this time of year. This particular image caught my eye while exploring the woods and pond that belong to friends Terry and Fran Lacy. The different tones and textures of the log frozen in ice provides an interesting subject that reminded my wife of a splinter.
